Albino
Egg- You can see the baby dragon curled up inside this translucent egg.

Hatchling- Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.
Adult- Albino dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl–a shriek instead of a roar.

Balloon dragon

Egg- This light egg is floating in the air
Hatchling- It’s very light and enjoys bouncing all around.
Adult- Balloon dragons are so named because they are filled with a gas that makes them almost lighter than air, similar to balloons. However, they are not prone to bursting, as they are covered in tough skin and can deflate themselves if necessary. In addition, they generally are slow moving. They use their gas bladders to float to the tops of trees, where food is more abundant. They can shift their weight from their backs to their fronts, allowing them to reach leaves and fruit.

Black dragon

Egg- This egg has a faint glow of green around it.

Hatchling- Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Adult- Black dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, and are one of the main ways to distinguish a black dragon from an evil dragon, which is a dragon turned evil by magic.

Bright pink dragon

Egg- It's bright. And pink.

Hatchling- You think it's a girl, although you're not sure how to check.

Adult- Bright pink dragons, however, are one of the only all-female breeds of dragons. They eat only plants, and meat during mating season when it is brought to them by their mate. Their bright colors make them easy to spot during dragon mating season, which occurs once every 200 years and can last up to 2 years.

Note: This Dragon was formerly known as the Pink Dragon until it was replaced by a new Pink breed that was both male and female. It is unknown at this time whether this egg still drops in the cave. The Dragon is still breedable and may be bred with any other breedable Dragon. Offspring appear to be of both the Bright Pink and Pink variety.

Dark green dragons (or Vine Dragon)

Egg- This egg is sitting in a patch of grass and small flowers even though there's no sun in the cave.
Hatchling- Aww…It's a cute baby dragon…except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it… (Now there are even more vines. Perhaps something is happening?)
Adult-

Dark green dragons, once they mature, appear to become an entirely different species. However, this isn't true. Rather, they burrow underground and get nutrients from their vines. These vines are sometimes referred to as Dragon Grass. These dragons are very violent, and will use their vines to capture, kill, and eat anything that moves, as well as nearby plants. Luckily, their range is limited, and they cannot use magic. Dark green dragons tend to be easy to spot since they usually kill all plants around them and thus are usually surrounded by a large clearing.

Note: This Dragon can only be attained through breeding a Vine Dragon with any other breedable Dragon. Breeding with metallic or alternate Dragons does not increase the chances of receiving an alternate Vine Dragon. Alts can be male or female and will breed with any other breedable Dragon. There is no difference between this Dragon and a normal Vine Dragon save for the different sprite. Previously you could tell whether a Dragon was an alt by its egg color, but now normal and alt Vines have the same egg. The only way to tell if a Dragon is an alt is to wait for it to hatch. They are alternatively known as Dark Green or Plant Dragons.

Daydream dragon

Egg- This egg is sitting on a cloud.
Hatchling- It has a pink cloud that seems to follow it everywhere. You seem to be having more difficulty concentrating since it arrived.
Adult- Daydream dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near daydream dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Deep sea dragon

Egg- This egg appears to be covered in scales.

Hatchling- It was born with fins instead of legs and did not seem to react well to freshwater, so you placed it in the nearby ocean.

Adult- Deep sea dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminous dorsal spine that serves to attract pray and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to abait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dorsal dragon (Purple)

Egg- This egg has multiple bands of color on it.
Hatchling- It has brightly colored dorsal fins on its back.
Adult- Dorsal dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; They raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dorsal dragon (red)

Egg- This egg has multiple bands of color on it.
Hatchling- It has brightly colored dorsal fins on its back.
Adult- Dorsal dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; They raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragon horse

Egg- This egg has strange markings on it.

Hatchling- It seems to bear some semblance to a horse.

Adult- The dragon horse has an equine-shaped body and hooves instead of claws, which allows it to be a very fast runner. It specializes in running takeoffs, which are quicker than takeoffs from a stand-still. The horse dragon is able to stalk its prey from the ground, and then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Frilled dragon

Egg- This egg has strange markings on it.
Hatchling- It has large frills on its head.

Adult- Frilled dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight, and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the "best" frills being more likely to breed.

Geode dragon

Egg- This egg is heavy and rough, as if it were made out of rock.
Hatchling- This hatchling doesn't move much; it appears to be covered in stone. (And look! It's grown its wings! It must be close to maturing. However, the wings look too heavy to fly, and are filled with beautiful crystal.)

Adult- Geode dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material, as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.

Note: This Dragon can only be acquired through a Stone x Stone, Earth x Earth, or Stone x Earth breeding. Additionally Geodes are a separate species, unlike Alts, and breed true, so a Geode x Geode pair will produce a Geode. It can be male or female and will breed with any other breedable Dragon. Their Egg description is the same as the Stone.

Gray Dragon
Egg- This egg is surrounded by fog.
Hatchling- Ever since it hatched, the sky has been full of very dark clouds.
Adult- Gray dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers, and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Green Dragon (Earth dragon or Pebble dragon)
Egg- This egg is sitting in a pile of small pebbles.
Hatchling- It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.
Adult- Green dragons are also sometimes called "earth" dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Guardian dragon

Egg- This egg is sitting in front of the others.

Hatchling- It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.
Adult- Guardian dragons have a large shield on the end of their tails. Although it appears to be heavy, it is light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Magi Dragon
Egg- This egg has an orange aura radiating from it.
Hatchling- Although, what's with it's eyes And, why does it keep staring at you like that
Adult- Magi dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is generally everything. They won't kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Mint Dragon
Egg- This egg is hidden behind the others, as if it is shy.
Hatchling- It must is very shy, since it keeps hiding from you.
Adult- Mint colored dragons are the most peaceful of all dragons; they only eat plants unless they scavenge meat from an already dead animal. They also have no ways to attack others or defend themselves. They are much smaller than other forms of dragons, since they only double in size when they mature. Mint dragons are unable to use magic, and cannot fly since they don't have wings. Their looks have given rise to the common insult of calling dragons "large lizards."

Neotropical dragon

Egg- This egg has strange yellow stripes.

Hatchling- Ever since it hatched, it has been hiding among the tree leaves.

Adult- Neotropical dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings, gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Ochredrake

Egg- This egg has strange markings on it.
Hatchling- It seems to like you, although it is very hyperactive and difficult to train.
Adult- Ochredrakes are a curious species, with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the face of a gentle hand.

Pink dragon (Male)

Egg- It’s bright. And pink.

Hatchling- Aww…It’s a cute baby dragon.

Adult- Pink dragons are primarily herbivores, and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan's young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Pink dragon (Female)

Egg- It’s bright. And pink.

Hatchling- Aww…It’s a cute baby dragon.

Adult- Pink dragons are primarily herbivores, and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan's young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Purple Dragon
Egg- Wow, purple isn't a color of egg you expected to see.
Hatchling- You think it's a girl, although you're not sure how to check
Adult- Purple dragons are one of the few all-female breeds of dragons. Their bright colors make them easy to spot during dragon mating season. They are primarily herbivores, but eat meat during mating season when it is brought to them by a mate. Mating seasons occur once every 200 years and can last up to 2 years.

Pygmy dragon (Female)

Egg- This egg is so tiny you almost didn't see it.

Hatchling- It can fit right in your palm.

Adult- Pygmy dragons are the smallest breed of true dragons, being the size of a small cat. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators, and to leave generous scraps. As such, the majority of a Pygmy's diet is scavenged, though they do hunt songbirds and small mammals when the pickings are slim. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with other varieties of dragons, but select mates within their breed.

Pygmy dragon (Male)

Egg- This egg is so tiny you almost didn't see it.

Hatchling- It can fit right in your palm.

Adult- Pygmy dragons are the smallest breed of true dragons, being the size of a small cat. They are often found around concentrated populations of dragons, relying on their larger brethren to ward away potential predators, and to leave generous scraps. As such, the majority of a Pygmy's diet is scavenged, though they do hunt songbirds and small mammals when the pickings are slim. Due to their tiny size, pygmies do not breed with other varieties of dragons, but select mates within their breed.

Red Dragon
Egg- This egg is rather warm.
Hatchling- It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from it's nose, like it's trying to
breath fire.
Adult- Red dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren't evil creatures as depicted in myths, and won't go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Seasonal dragon (Summer)

Egg- The markings on this egg match the weather outside.

Hatchling- It perfectly depicts summer weather.

Adult- Seasonal dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Serpentine/Water Dragon
Egg- This egg is sitting on a small puddle.
Hatchling- It enjoys swimming at the nearby pond. (Its fins and tail have gotten bigger, and you've moved it to a larger body of water to swim in.)
Adult- When a serpentine water dragon matures, it loses almost all use of its legs as well as its ability to survive on land and enters the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They usually stay in the same lake their entire life, although a few live in the ocean and swim across the world.

Skywing
Egg- This egg has strange markings on it.

Hatchling- Unlike the other hatchlings, this one hatched with wings. (It’s back legs have become a second set of wings! It must be close to maturing.)

Adult- Skywing dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are one of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Stone dragon

Egg- This egg is heavy and rough, as if it were made out of rock.
Hatchling- Except for the occasional flicker of movement, it remains inanimate.
Adult- Stone dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Striped dargon
Egg- This egg has brightly colored markings on it.
Hatchling- It spends its time pouncing on insects. (it is now covered in brightly colored stripes.)

Adult- Striped dragons come in a dazzling array of colors, complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon's mate.

Note: The White Striped Dragon can be picked up year-round from the cave. It can be male or female and will breed with any other breedable Dragon. The color of the Dragon's mate determines the color of the Striped offspring. The Red, Green and Blue Striped varieties must be attained through breeding the following Dragons with a White Striped Dragon:
Red: Balloon, *Bright Pink, *Pink, Red, Red Dorsal
Green: Earth, Frill, Mint, *Summer, Vine
Blue: Daydream, *Geode, *Guardian, Skywing, Spring, Water, Winter
Breeds marked by an asterisk (*) are suspected but unconfirmed.

Sunrise dragon (Hatch the egg between 6AM and 3PM.)

Egg- This egg is glowing as brightly as the sun.

Hatchling- It enjoys sunning itself in the morning light.

Adult- Sunrise dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise dragons prefer to live in large groups, and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Sunset dragon (Hatch the egg between 4PM and 12AM.)

Egg- This egg is glowing as brightly as the sun.

Hatchling- Its belly is bright red, and it is most active in the evening.

Adult- Sunset dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Two headed dragon (Female)

Egg- This egg is split down the middle into two colors.
Hatchling- Oddly enough, it has two heads that seem to enjoy playing with each other. (Its color appears to have changed, and it is now one solid color!)
Adult- Two headed dragons are a special breed of dragons. They have two necks, two brains, two mouths, but one stomach and one main body. The two heads usually work together, but there are times when they will fight each other, attacking back and forth. They use their sharp teeth and wings to hunt large animals, and rarely eat plants. It is unknown what would happen if a two headed dragon were to mate with a one headed dragon, since it has never occurred. They only mate within their breed.

Water walker

Egg- This egg seems to be floating on a puddle.

Hatchling- It has long toes, and likes to wander around on lily pads. (And look! Its toes have grown longer and developed webbing!)

Adult- Water walkers are small dragon that are frequently found around bogs and ponds. While they are flightless, they retain the flight sacs and hollow bones of their airborne cousins. These traits, coupled with their extraordinarily long, webbed toes, allow them to stand on top of calm waters, using their small sails propel them wherever they please. They spend the majority of their life on the water, retreating to the tops of lily pads when the waters become too rough to float atop.

Waterhorse dragon

Egg- This egg is slimy and blue.

Hatchling- It's kind of shaky on its feet and enjoys playing in puddles.

Adult- Waterhorse dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons, and enjoy playing with humans.

    (Male)   (Female)

Whiptail dragon

Egg- This egg shakes from time to time, as if it is eager to hatch.

Hatchling- It is so full of energy that you have a hard time keeping up with it.

Adult- Feisty and energetic, whiptail dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

White Dragon
Egg- This egg has a very clean look. It's completely devoid of dirt and scratches.
Hatchling- It has bright blue eyes, and keeps injuring itself, but you can't find the bruises.
Adult- White dragons are pacifists, and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can't bring back the dead. They only eat plants, and never kill living things.

Some dragons currently are (almostunavailable. [Following dragons are not owned by myself. The descriptions and figures are obtained from here and here. Thanks very much for the original authors.]

Christmas ('07)

Egg- This egg has a holly leaf stuck to it.

Hatchling- It's very festively colored.

Adult- Christmas dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the 'Spirits of Christmas.'

Note: This Dragon was available during Christmas 2007. Cave Born Dragons were always male, but bred ones were either male or female. It can be bred through-out the year, but will only produce Christmas Dragons near the Holiday. Unknown if it can breed with Metallics.

Christmas ('08, "Yulebuck")

Egg- This egg is covered with bright, festive stripes.

Note: This Dragon was available during Christmas 2008. It is always male and can be bred with other breedable Dragons, but will only produce Christmas Dragons during the holiday season. It is unknown if it can breed with metallics. It is also known as a Yulebuck.

Neglected (Method to obtaining is unknown)

Egg- This egg is an odd green color.

Hatchling- It looks very sick, as though it wasn't very well looked after…
Adult- This breed of dragons results from an egg or hatchling that has been neglected. They are usually rebellious, not obeying their masters, sometimes even attacking them. However, their neglect as a hatchling leaves them crippled, and they are weak compared to other breeds, causing them to stay with their masters for protection.

Note: The methods for getting this Dragon are unclear. It may also not be possible to get this Dragon anymore. One individual received this Dragon after breeding their Purple and Christmas 07 Dragons, according to their story. It may be a fluke of breeding or require a dedicated effort. More information as it comes.

Zombie (Only show on a scroll from 12AM-6AM PST)
Egg- Your dragon, unfortunately, has died.

Hatchling- It's an undead baby dragon, produced by a failed magical spell. It probably would be cute if it weren't partially decayed. (And look! It somehow managed to grow wings despite being dead.)

Adult- Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming the dragon into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Note: This Dragon was available again on Halloween 2008. It had no gender and was not breedable. Rumor states that in order to get this Dragon you had to have a hatchling that had died from sickness and attempt to revive it. According to rumor any hatchling that had a revival attempted on it could come back at midnight as a zombie Dragon and would become a tombstone come morning. It is unknown if this rumor is true. It was also know as the Undead Dragon.

Valentine ('09)
Egg- This egg is speckled and very fragile.

Hatchling- It seems shy, but loves attention.
Adult- Valentine eggs are only once a year. Adults' mating seasons are very short, usually spanning the middle of the month of February. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Note: This Dragon was only available on Saint Valentine's Day 2009. It may be available again next Valentine's Day. This Dragon is always female and can be bred with any other breedable Dragon, but will only produce the other breed's offspring. Unknown if it can breed with Metallic Dragons.

Vampire (Female)
Egg- This egg smells rotten and is stone cold.

Hatchling- This hatchling appears to be…dead? (Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.)
Adult- Vampire dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only "alive" at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with its fangs and injecting a venom that kills the baby inside.

Note: This Dragon was available during Halloween 2008. It can be either male or female. It is currently not possible to breed this Dragon, though the option of a Bite action is being discussed on the Dragon Cave Forums. This Dragon may be available again next Halloween.

Vampire (Male)
Egg- This egg smells rotten and is stone cold.

Hatchling- This hatchling appears to be…dead? (Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.)
Adult- Vampire dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only "alive" at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with its fangs and injecting a venom that kills the baby inside.

Leetle Tree

Egg- Oh my. There is a leetle tree among the eggs.

Note: This "Egg" was available during Christmas 08. To get the tree you had to have space on your scroll for another egg, but once it was picked up it did not take up your egg quota or receive clicks and views. The tree cannot be killed or abandoned. Trying to use the kill option results in the message: You try to kill the Leetle Tree but it is too cute so you let it live.
